Summary for Parents: Kids Tube is built from the ground up to protect children's safety and privacy.
We collect NO personal information from children, NO device location, and NO biometric data.
There is zero third-party advertising and no behavioral tracking. All videos are pre-approved or curated by parents.
1. Introduction & Commitment to Child Safety
Kids Tube ("we", "our", or "the App") is a dedicated parent-supervised kids video platform available on Android and iOS.
We are committed to full compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA),
the General Data Protection Regulation for Children (GDPR-K), the Google Play Families Policy,
and the Apple App Store Kids Category Guidelines (Guideline 1.3 and Guideline 5.1).
2. Zero Personal Information Collected from Children
Under no circumstances does Kids Tube solicit, collect, or store personally identifiable information (PII) from children.
Specifically:
- No Child Personal Information: Children are not permitted to register, create accounts, or provide real names, email addresses, phone numbers, or physical addresses.
- Local Child Nicknames: Child profiles utilize only arbitrary display nicknames (e.g. "Emma" or "Kid 1") created by the parent.
- No Geolocation Tracking: We do not request, access, or collect GPS or location data from any child device.
- No Audio or Camera Recording: Child devices do not record audio, video, or photos. Camera access is strictly limited to the Parent Mode for scanning one-time device pairing QR codes.
- Anonymous Identifiers: Child devices are identified solely by randomly generated UUIDs used exclusively for pairing with the parent's control account.
3. Information Collected from Parents
Parent Mode requires parent authorization to enforce parental controls across devices. We collect:
- Parent Account Information: Email address and securely salted/hashed password (via Argon2/Bcrypt) for account authentication and settings recovery.
- Parent Supervision Preferences: Daily viewing limits (in minutes), scheduled bedtime hours, approved category visibility, and video whitelist overrides.
- Anonymous Usage Telemetry: Aggregated watch durations (in seconds) and video IDs viewed within the app, displayed exclusively to the parent in their private Parent Dashboard.
4. No Third-Party Advertising & Tracking
In strict accordance with Google Play's Families Policy and Apple's Kids Category requirements:
- We do NOT include third-party advertising networks.
- We do NOT track users across third-party apps or websites (no IDFA, no AAID tracking).
- We do NOT sell, rent, or monetize any user or child data under any circumstances.
5. Official YouTube Embedded Player Compliance
Kids Tube enables parents to curate and display safe, educational video content via the official
YouTube Embedded Player API (and YouTube Android/iOS Player API).
- Videos are rendered within the sandboxed official player in compliance with YouTube's Terms of Service and Developer Policies.
- We do not download, modify, or rip YouTube audio/video files.
- Playback is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Real-Time Remote Signaling & Device Security
Kids Tube utilizes an internal secure WebSocket and encrypted API connection to transmit real-time parental controls
(such as Instant Lock, Bedtime Enforcement, Pause/Resume, and Content Refresh).
All communication between parent devices, child devices, and our server is transmitted over encrypted TLS/SSL channels.
7. Data Retention and Account Deletion (Apple Guideline 5.1.1(v))
We respect the right of parents to maintain complete sovereignty over their family's data:
- Account Deletion: Parents may permanently delete their parent account and all associated child profiles, paired devices, and viewing history directly inside the application under Parent Settings > Delete Account or by contacting our data protection team.
- Automatic Cleanup: Upon account deletion, all database records, authentication credentials, child profiles, and watch history are permanently purged from our active systems.
